WWI 2008 Costume Contest Terms
FROM THE 16TH OF JUNE TO THE 25th OF JUNE 2008

Article 1: The Company Blizzard Entertainment S.A.S., which head office is located in Velizy Villacoublay (78143), 36, avenue de l’Europe and operating under the commercial name of Blizzard is organizing a competition during the World Wide Invitational event (the ”Event”) being held at Paris-Expo- Porte de Versailles – Hall 5 in Paris France on June 28,2008.

Article 2: The competition is open to individuals aged 18 or more who have purchased a ticket for the World Wide Invitational event being held at Paris-Expo- Porte de Versailles – Hall 5 in Paris, France with a limitation of fifty (50) individuals. Participants above 13 and under 18 can still participate if they provide a written parental authorization.

Article 3: Entrants automatically accept the terms of this competition and acknowledge the fact that this game being French, the competition is governed by French law.

Article 4: Failure to observe the terms stated here will lead to the nullification of the participation.

Article 5: Only one (1) entry per household will be accepted (same name, same address).

Article 6: Entrants have to, either:

  • connect to the website at http://eu.blizzard.com/wwi08/contest.xml for preregistration between June 16th and the 25th of June, 23:59 (GMT-9), fill in the form and have to provide a preview of their costume. The submissions may only consist in digital files in .jpg format no larger than 1 MB in filesize.
  • show up during the Event and register to the local Costume contest registration desk between 9AM and 3PM on June 28th 2008.

The list of the 50 (fifty) finalists will be determined by the jury and announced during the Event on June 28, 2008 at 6pm, Paris time.

Finalists will present their costumes on the front stage of the Event.

The final judging of the qualified Entrants shall take place at WWI 2008 on June 28, 2008.

Article 7: The cost of the telephone communication necessary to the entry will be refunded on written request sent to: Blizzard Europe, 36, avenue de l'Europe, Bât Étendard 1, 78457 Vélizy-Villacoublay Cedex. The request should legibly bear mention of the competition, the first name, last name and details of the entrant asking for a refund. Communication will be paid back up to €0.50. Entrants who register online are required to be in costume to 'check in' at the dedicated booth between 9h00 to 15h00, on June 28, 2008 to confirm that they are in attendance at the Event. After 15h00, Blizzard reserves the right to take additional Entrants who have been placed on a waiting list to fill the spots of those "online" Entrants that did not check in with the Information Booth to confirm their attendance, by 15h00 on June, 2008, up to a maximum of the fifty (50) qualified Entrants for the Contest. They are also required to have an appropriate costume. Note that costumes may not include or otherwise utilize any edged weapons (such as knives, daggers, swords), firearms of any kind including airguns, long bows, crossbows, or any other type of projectile weapon regardless of whether it is unloaded or non functional; 'actual' clubs, maces, or other 'crushing weapons.' Acceptable costume 'weapon props' will be limited to air filled or soft plastic swords, daggers, maces or clubs, and wooden staves that are not shod with metal.

Article 8: Aim of the competition: At the commencement of the Contest, which shall be at approximately 20:00 on June 28, 2008, each qualified Entrant shall demonstrate their costume which should be based upon the Sponsor's game franchises, "Diablo," "StarCraft, and "Warcraft." A jury composed of developers will decide the winners on grounds of originality, design and presentation with the winners announced during the contest ceremony awards. The decision of Sponsor is final. To claim a prize, winners should follow the instructions provided to them by Sponsor.

Article 9: One (1) first place winner will receive one (1) Laptop HP Pavilion series HDX and (one) (1) one-year subscription to World of Warcraft, valued at 1600€, and 131€, (tax included) respectively.

One (1) second place winner will receive two (2) ATI Radeon HD 3870 graphics cards, one (1) Starcraft II Marine Statue “Tychus Findlay”, one (1) one-year subscription to World of Warcraft, valued at 598€, 199€ and 131€ (tax included) respectively.

One (1) third place winner will receive one (1) ATI Radeon HD 3870 graphics cards, one (1) one-year subscription to World of Warcraft, and one (1) WoW Action figures pack valued at 299€, 131€, and 80€ (tax included) respectively.

Article 10: Resale of the prize is forbidden. No exchange of the prize worth against money, another prize, object or service different from a prize eventually won by an entrant will be accepted.

Article 11: The details of each entrant (name and e-mail address) will be transmitted by the Blizzard's server, which will process the data. The data will be collected during the online subscription of each user on the www.wow-europe.com website according to the « Informatique et Libertés » law, of the 6th of January 1978 and its later amendments, and according to the European directive number 95/46/CE.

Each entrant grants Blizzard permission to use the information he is providing within the framework set by the « Informatique et Libertés » law of the 6th of January 1978. Each entrant benefits from the right to access and modify his personal data.

Article 12: In case of litigation, only tribunals in the country of physical residence of the head office of the organizing company will have jurisdiction.

Article 13: Responsibility: In case of circumstances outside Blizzard's control, in a fortuitous case, or under exceptional circumstances (fire, flood, natural disaster, malevolent intrusion in the IT system, strike, jeopardize of the financial and technical viability of the competition etc.), even in the case of its own responsibility (subject to its good faith), Blizzard retains the right to cancel the whole or part of the competition. The present competition will be cancelled in case circumstances outside Blizzard's control, without the entrants or winners being able to claim any form of compensation. Blizzard retains the right to exclude entry to the present competition any individual having cheated, deceived, faked or disturbed the operations stated in this terms. Blizzard retains the right to sue any individual having cheated, deceived, faked or disturbed the operations stated in this terms, or tried to do so. A winner having disturbed the competition in any of the ways described in the present terms will be rightfully denied the right to claim any prize. Any addition or amendment to these terms will be announced on the Internet. They will be considered appendices to the present terms.

The full terms have been deposited at the office of Maître Venezia, huissier de justice (court officer) in Neuilly-sur-Seine. They are available on simple written request sent to the organizing company. The stamp will be refunded on simple request sent to the Consumer Service of Blizzard, legibly bearing mention of the competition, first name, last name and details of the addressee by joining his bank account details.

Article 14: Grant of license: By submitting your contest entry, you hereby grant to Blizzard, a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty free license for the duration of the protection usually granted to authors by laws and convention on copyright to: display and reproduce the entries which you are submitting to Blizzard in association with Blizzard's contest on its websites ("Licensed Materials"), including, but not limited to www.blizzard-europe.com and www.wow-europe.com, for commercial, business, and trade purposes, as well as for advertising and/or publicity purposes. Additionally, you hereby agree and acknowledge that Blizzard may, in its sole discretion, display the Licensed Material, in whole or in part, distorted in character or form, on the Website.

Article 15: Image authorization: Blizzard is allowed to reproduce and use your full name, country of residence, age, personal photograph, contest participation video and picture footage and interview (hereinafter « the Elements »). You hereby authorizes Blizzard to reproduce, to digitize, to adapt, to diffuse, to represent and to communicate the Elements on any communication medium relative to the Product as:

  • Press releases, press conferences and press Kits (audio and visual) of the Product by Blizzard relatively to its communication with the general and specialized (multimedia editions, general public computer science, family dedicated newspapers) press, provided that the Elements shall be reproduced and communicated in whole or in part by the aforementioned press.
  • Websites owned or maintained by Blizzard.

The authorization hereby granted is free of charge, worldwide and for an undetermined term (or at least for the exploitation term of the Product and of the range to which it belongs). It is expressly understood that Blizzard shall not make use of any of your eventual observation and image in a manner that could harm your reputation.
