What are the requirements for participating?
To participate in the StarCraft Community tournament, you will need two things. First of all, you need a ticket to the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational in Paris. Please make sure you have a ticket before signing up. You will also need to sign up for the Community tournament using the same email address you used to purchase your ticket. Secondly, you will need to own a copy of StarCraft: Brood War. In order to qualify for the StarCraft Community tournament, you will be participating in a StarCraft: Brood War 2v2 qualifier tournament.
How can I sign up?
You can sign up for the tournament via the sign-up webform.
When does the sign-up end?
You have until May 13th 2008 00:01am CET.
Does signing up guarantee me a place in the StarCraft tournament?
Unfortunately, we do not have enough capacity to run a full-scale tournament with every attendee of the Worldwide Invitational on-site. To give everyone an equal chance at participating, we have organized a qualifier tournament. The qualifier tournament will be hosted by GosuGamers and will be held on May 24th 2008. It will be a StarCraft: Brood War 2v2 single elimination tournament where you and your partner will compete with all other attendees that signed up for the top 16 spots!
Qualifiers?
Yes! To make the competition more fun, we will have StarCraft: Brood War qualifiers hosted by GosuGamers. Make sure you confirm your participation in the qualifiers before May 23rd. We will be announcing the map pool and seedings on May 23rd on GosuGamers.net.
What if I do not have a partner?
It is indeed possible to sign up for the tournament without a partner. We will then match up the single players before the qualifiers. However, we would advise you to find a partner before signing up, since you may not be able to use the same strategies with a matched-up partner as with someone you know personally. You can check on the Worldwide Invitational forums to find a partner for the tournament.
What happens after I signed up?
After the sign-up period ends on May 13th, we will verify if you have already purchased a ticket for the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational. Please make sure you use the same email address for signing up for the tournament as you used for purchasing your ticket. You will then receive an email from us with further information. After that, you will need to confirm your attendance in the qualifier tournament hosted by GosuGamers. Please note that you will only be able to participate in the qualifiers if you have previously signed up on the Worldwide Invitational 2008 site.
The best 16 teams will be chosen to participate in the StarCraft tournament at the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational in Paris. The teams ranking from 17th to 32nd will be put on a back-up list to fill in should one of the best 16 teams fail to confirm their attendance on-site.
