Installing World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
Before beginning your installation of Wrath of the Lich King, ensure that you are logged into an administrator account. We cannot support installations of the game on non-administrator accounts. To help avoid any potential issues when installing, close down any non-essential applications you may have running.
If you have been participating in the Wrath of the Lich King Beta, you cannot use this client to connect to the live realms. Please uninstall your Beta client before attempting to install Wrath of the Lich King.
The European World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King authentication key can only be used to upgrade a European World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade account, this includes English, French, German and Spanish version of the game. If you currently have a standard World of Warcraft account, the account will need to be upgraded to a Burning Crusade account before it can be further upgraded to a Wrath of the Lich King account. Similarly, the European Wrath of the Lich King DVD can only be used to upgrade a European World of Warcraft installation, if you have a US account and installation, you will need a US version of Wrath of the Lich King.
You will also need to check that your system meets the minimum requirements for successfully installing and playing Wrath of the Lich King. If you do not meet the minimum requirements, the support we are able to offer will be limited.
After inserting the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King DVD, you will be prompted with the Wrath of the Lich King installation window:
Click INSTALL to start the installation, you will be prompted to choose which languages you would like made available:
The language options of your original installation will be installed by default (the greyed out option) and cannot be removed. If you wish to add any of the other language options to your installation, tick the corresponding box(es).
You will next be prompted with the End User License Agreement:
You will need to scroll through and read the entire End User License Agreement. If you Agree with the terms presented, the process of copying the game files to your computer will begin:
You may be prompted to upgrade your account during the installation of Wrath of the Lich King:
If you have not yet upgraded your account, please click OK to be taken to the online upgrade pages. You will need your Account Name, Account Password and Wrath of the Lich King Authentication Key to complete the upgrade. If you have already upgraded your account or if you do not want to upgrade at this time, click Skip and allow the installation to complete:
Congratulations, you have now successfully installed World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King!
Your game will now need to patch to the same version of the game that is currently on the live realms. If you are installing the Wrath of the Lich King on top of an existing and updated World of Warcraft installation, patches 3.0.2 and 3.0.3 will not need to be downloaded - they will automatically be installed.
If you do not have the patches downloaded, the downloader will launch and being to download them automatically.

If your DVD is damaged or you have misplaced it, you can download the client using the following link:

Make sure you choose the Wrath of the Lich King option before starting the download:
- If you already have The Burning Crusade installed, the download will be around 1.9Gb.
- If you do not have any World of Warcraft data on your hard drive, the download will be approximately 6.4Gb.
