Road to Blizzcon
At the end of June 2009, Europe’s finest Warcraft III and World of Warcraft players competed for a spot at the Grand Finals to be held during this year’s BlizzCon. All participants proved their strength in Cologne, and we had the opportunity to watch some amazing battles and tests of skill. In the end, two arena teams for World of Warcraft, x6tence and Woah, earned the privilege to defend the European colors in Anaheim. In the Warcraft III bracket, LucifroN, Grubby and Nicker will compete for the title and prove that they are far from being mere challengers. We are very proud to present to you the European champions for this year’s BlizzCon.
Qualifiers for WarCraft III
LucifroN is a Spanish player of the nGize team. To this day he remains a proud defender of the Orcs; his race of choice. He is currently studying and his free time is dedicated to Warcraft III. One can guess that he also spends time playing against his younger brother VortiX whom shares the same passion for gaming. You can count on LucifroN to amaze the audience with his tricks and strategies. Since the beginning of his pro-gamer career, he has won several tournaments and contests. Having just won the BlizzCon 2009 Regional Finals in Cologne, Germany and the ESWC Masters in Cheonan, South Korea, his goal can be no less than winning this year, after finishing 2nd at last year’s BlizzCon.
This time it will be an European player winning the currently best WarCraft III event, BlizzCon!”
Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen was born in the Netherlands in 1986 and is one of the most famous Warcraft III players. Grubby and his Orcs have defeated countless opponents and this player reigned supreme in many events, small or big. He is very well-known amongst the Warcraft III community and his gameplay has influenced many. Elected player of the year several times, he is one of the very few pro-gamers who managed to win the World Cyber Games twice (2006 and 2008). Grubby will without doubt be competing for the top spot at this year’s BlizzCon in Anaheim!
BlizzCon is the zenith of professional gaming, and I am at once honored and thrilled to play in this awesome event. My only goal is to get that famous Blizzard sword or sculpture, along with a gold medal. My teeth and ambitions are bared!”
Nikita Pomadov, known to us and the rest of the eSports world as ‘Nicker’, is an up-and-coming Night Elf player. Stemming from Russia, 23 year old Nicker plays for the GaB team and has done since Bin-game and GaB announced their merger back in June 2009. After coming third in the 2009 Warcraft Regional Finals and scooping up a tasty $1000 prize and qualifying for BlizzCon, we can hope to see great things come from this player as he makes his way to Anaheim, California.
This time I'm facing last year's winner in round 1. I had such experience at the european tournament and going to change it :) I'm proud to represent Europe and Russia at the blizzCon global finals. Looking forward to it !”

Qualifiers for World of Warcraft
Spanish team x6tence is known for its versatility in arenas. Most World of Warcraft teams are based on a determined composition and do not tend to switch classes easily. However, x6tence team members do not hesitate to change their plans on the spot in order to adapt and surprise their opponents. This strategy allowed them to make a name for themselves over the arena seasons and several major tournaments. Thanks to their ability to think out of the box, x6tence team members fought their way from the lower bracket and managed to win the 2009 Regional Finals. They will without doubt have to be reckoned with for the upcoming Global Finals at BlizzCon.
Proudly to attend Blizzcon again, we just hope to end it better this time.”
Whoa is a fairly fresh team. Many will recognize the name of one of the members of the team: half American and half German -- Patrick ‘Inflame’ Costales, who once played for Nihilim Plasma and is well known for playing a Warlock to an exceptional standard. He now plays alongside Spanish players Kae and Ocelote who are known for playing Druid and Warrior respectively. Both Kae and Ocelote used to play for Millenium.WoW until they partnered up with Inflame, and now they’re really shaking up the arenas. Check out ‘get WLDed’ by Ocelote over at warcraftmovies.com to see what they’re about. After successfully toppling x6tence in the opening round of the 2009 Regional Finals in Cologne, they can look forward to attending BlizzCon where they can face off against other Regional Finalists and aim to take home the top prize.
WLD? Impossible is nothing”
