SPOTLIGHT

x6tence After the team Nihilum Plasma, it is now x6tence’s turn to answer to some of our questions, only a few days before the start of the Global Finals.

First, let’s get back to the incredible progression of this Spanish team. Viewed as the sensation of the year by some, x6tence is built on a solid basis of veteran players. This had not gone unnoticed by some specialists.

Souler, the current x6tence captain won the CGS 2v2 tournament at BlizzCon 2007. Their performance at the Worldwide Invitational in Paris (playing as Improved Clicks) is still remembered. In the end, only the Korean team Council of Mages was able to beat them in a nail-biting grand final.

x6tence usually plays with a Warrior (Siler), Druid (Souler), and Priest (Falcon) combo. However, they are (in)famous for their ability to easily adapt their roster in order to match their competitors’ and to counter their strategies.

Placed 5th during the first round of the 2008 Arena Tournament Qualifiers, they have shown their supremacy at the Regional Finals in Madrid, Spain. They beat Triple Threat, Pure Cartoons and sent Nihilum Plasma down to the lower bracket just to meet them again in the Grand Final.

x6tence will start the Global Finals against the North American team Selective Queuers. There’s the chance that our Spanish guys will face Council of Mages once again. And let’s not forget Nihilum Plasma, who cannot wait to take their revenge! We can definitely expect epic battles!

Interview with Néstor aka "Souler"

Souler
1) What are your aims for the global finals at BlizzCon?
It’s hard to predict a result in a tournament where the best teams from all around the world will be participating, but we’ll do our best to end up in one of the three top positions.

2) Could you tell us a bit more about the preparation for this kind of tournament?
One of the biggest factors is analyzing the setups of your opponents, playing against good teams that use those setups, and creating new strategies against those who defeated us in the past.

3) What is the team you fear the most and for what reasons?
The two Korean teams, as their offensive game play is really different than that of the teams we faced before them.

4) How do you feel about representing Europe for the Global Finals?
I am very proud of being at where we are right now. To have the chance to represent Europe in this kind of tournament, we will do our best to reach the top.

Siler
1) What are your aims for the global finals at BlizzCon?
My goal in this tournament is for my team, x6tence.AMD, to reach the top. I do not think my team is currently one of the favorites to win this tournament, and I know it will be hard to go up against the best teams in the world, but I am sure that we will do our best to reach the top three.

2) Could you tell us a bit more about the preparation for this kind of tournament?
Basically, we schedule arena games against people we already know, such as Kael, Fliyin and Keysler, who have a similar skill level in team-play and are Spaniards as well. Playing against them is a really good training session. We schedule arena games against SK, Pure Cartoons, Triple Threat... well, long story short, the best European teams, as well as against our friends.

3) What is the team you fear the most and for what reasons?
Without a doubt, I fear Council of Mages the most. I think I have never seen a setup of rogue, mage, priest before with so much skill and coordination. Our last game against them took place in the World Wide Invitational and they were already playing at an incredible level that we weren’t used to seeing. I suppose that they will be more prepared than ever, as BlizzCon is the most important event of this tournament year. They are the favorites to win the tournament; that I do not doubt.

4) How do you feel about representing Europe for the Global Finals?
I am very proud, but at the same time, it is a really big responsibility for us, because we do not only represent Europe, we also represent Spain, and our team x6tence.AMD.

Interview with Victor aka "Falcon"

Falcon
1) What are your aims for the global finals at BlizzCon?
Right now, my objective is to win the first round, which will be as hard as a final. If we qualify, my objective will be to win the second round, and so on. When you play against the best teams in the world, you must look at qualifying for the next round, because you can be defeated at any moment. If I could choose an opponent, I wouldn’t be able to, since all the teams are really good.

2) Could you tell us a bit more about the preparation for this kind of tournament?
Well, with the release of the patch that altered warlocks and mages we had to abandon the warlock, priest, druid setup. We have been training other setups which we believe can beat any team. Something that is really important is to practice a lot with Season 2 gear, which is completely different than the Season 4 gear. The strategies when in the Season 2 versus Season 4 gear are completely different.

3) What is the team you fear the most and for what reasons?
I am not afraid of any team, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be Council of Mages. Their team-play is impressive; they always manage to get that aggressive head-start which makes them different from the other teams. After losing against them at the World Wide Invitational 2008’s final, a lot of rogue, mage, priest teams looked at them, and the general level of this setup improved enormously.
