Lead Game Designer – StarCraft II

The StarCraft II team is looking for a talented lead game designer with experience in developing top-quality 3D real-time strategy computer games. Duties will include overseeing general game design, rules systems, game balance, interface design, story, and team design meetings. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in game design, outstanding "people" skills, and a longstanding passion for playing games of multiple genres and platforms. Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ game design experience
  • Must have shipped at least one AAA title in a lead designer role
  • Able to work well in a team environment, as well as provide leadership and vision for a team of designers
  • Great sense for what makes a game or level fun to play
  • Able to do scripting or using triggers in game toolset
  • Experience in designing great Player versus Player and Cooperative experiences
  • Able to communicate effectively with programming, art, design, and business personnel
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communications skills
  • Absolute passion for playing and making computer games
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about StarCraft II & real-time strategy games
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative

Pluses

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experienced in designing and playing real-time strategy games
  • Knowledgeable about eSports and online gameplay
  • Passionate about designing features for online communities
  • Extensive experience playing Blizzard Entertainment strategy games
  • Non-design development experience (as an artist, sound designer, programmer, etc.)
