Java Web Software Engineer

Blizzard Entertainment Europe seeks a software engineer experienced in developing web-based applications in Java for the Blizzard and World of Warcraft websites and other internal and external projects. The programmer would be responsible for creating new and improving existing applications in a high-load, high-availability environment. The ideal candidate would be experienced in J2EE, Spring, other web-related technologies, and have had corporate exposure to PL/SQL.

Location: Velizy, France (southwest of Paris)

Reports to: Platform Management Director & Lead Software Engineer
Countries to work with: Europe

Coordinates with:

• Blizzard HQ (Irvine/Los Angeles)
• Web Design/Editorial Team at Blizzard Europe

• Development of web applications for our web sites and intranet (Java, JSP/Servlet, J2EE)
• Web developments using various frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, Log4J)
• Projects include the Blizzard Store, World of Warcraft Account Management

REQUIREMENTS

• Min. of 2 years of previous experience in software and web development
• Strong knowledge of frameworks for web developments (Spring, Struts, Hibernate, Log4J)
• Knowledge of Windows/Linux environments
• Fluent in English
• Able to work in a multi-cultural environment
• A strong motivation & high level of commitment
• Excellent relationship and teamwork skills
• Autonomy and rigor

PLUSES

• Good knowledge of Oracle database programming (PL/SQL)
• Experience with developing translated web sites/applications
• Strong knowledge of Apache/Tomcat administration
• Experience developing high performance applications in clustered environments
• Strong XML/XSLT, AJAX skills
• Experience with implementing payment methods
