Just a reminder: As we mentioned a couple weeks back, on November 11, 2009, all current World of Warcraft players must merge their World of Warcraft accounts with a Battle.net account in order to log in to the game. As our way to say "thanks" for taking a moment to go through the process, all accounts that upgrade to Battle.net will receive a brand-new penguin in-game pet. On November 11, all World of Warcraft players will need to log in to the game using a Battle.net username and password, and anyone who wishes to create a new World of Warcraft account will need to start with a Battle.net account.

We're pleased to announce the return of the monthly StarCraft "Vespene Laughs" Comic Contest on October 29! From glimpses at the hidden dangers of being a Dark Templar to run-downs of rejected StarCraft II units, we received a ton of funny and creative entries in our previous contest; now we're inviting you to make the galaxy laugh once more. Windlass Studios has just introduced a new line of licensed collectibles inspired by World of Warcraft.

The first products of this line are Horde and Alliance-themed tabards and banners, each custom dyed and embroidered with iconic symbols and heraldry from the game. A full-sized latex rubber replica of the runeblade Frostmourne is also coming soon, and other products are in development as well. Check out the new collectibles at the Windlass Studios website.

We have just released the fourth installment of our StarCraft II Battle Reports, a series of videos created for the official website in order to give you a closer look at the fast-paced, intense, and exciting-to-watch multiplayer matches of StarCraft II. The Royal Photographic Society of Azeroth is renewing its competition in celebration of Halloween. In a longstanding Blizzard Entertainment tradition, this year we're proud to announce our seventh annual pumpkin-carving contest.

Between 12:00 a.m. PDT on October 13 and 11:59 p.m. PDT on October 28, the RPSA will be accepting submissions for the pumpkin contest. The shutterbugs who submit the most outstanding photos of their work will have their pictures proudly displayed on WorldofWarcraft.com and Blizzard.com on Halloween. In addition, the crafters of the five most interesting, original, and well-carved pumpkin designs will each be recognized for their merits with a 32 GB iPod touch! Special thanks go out to Apple for this fantastic prize!

Pumpkin submission tips:

• The winning entries will display high levels of originality, craftsmanship, and possibly humor.
• Your pumpkin must be lit up by a candle or other light source in your photo entry. You can show another photo of the pumpkin unlit if you wish.
• Pumpkins must be related to World of Warcraft or another Blizzard Entertainment title.
• Try to take the best picture possible, as picture quality helps make a good impression on the judges.
• Make sure you tell us what the pumpkin is supposed to be in the caption, just in case it's not clear.
