18-Aug-2010 Diablo® III Caravan Feature Unveiled at gamescom
Today at the gamescom trade fair in Cologne, Germany, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled a brand-new gameplay feature for its highly-anticipated action role-playing game, Diablo® III. Even in single-player mode, the heroes of Sanctuary won't have to face the hordes of the Burning Hells alone, as a persistent caravan follows them on their perilous quest. The caravan provides access to a group of unique support characters including a blacksmith, a mystic, and a jeweler, each of which offer exclusive gameplay benefits that will aid players in their epic struggle. And these aren't just static NPCs -- each artisan has his or her own story and quest line, and they gradually grow in skill and learn new recipes over the course of the game as players take advantage of their services. The utility provided by these characters adds another layer of customization and depth to the Diablo III gameplay experience.

More information regarding the caravan feature and Diablo III in general can be found in our press kit on the Blizzard.com Press Kits page.

The 2010 European Warcraft Invitational has come to an end. We saw many thrilling games and high-speed action. In Warcraft III, Grubby, the King of Orcs, once more showed his exceptional play-style in the final against Happy, winning 2-to-1 and 2-to-0. In the World of Warcraft Arena, *aAa* held on to their outstanding performance throughout the tournament. They emerged victorious over LightZ CaMerA ActioN, winning 3-to-1 in the final and becoming the undefeated Regional Champions.

We want to thank all of the participating players who made this event so exciting. We would also like to thank all of the visitors who joined us at the Media Centre in Cologne to cheer for their favorite players. It was a lot of fun and we hope to see you again next year! We will be updating our photo gallery with pictures from this year’s event in the coming days. Keep an eye on our 2010 European Warcraft Invitational website for more updates.

08-Aug-2010 2010 European Warcraft Invitational Day Two

Much like yesterday, the second day at the Media Centre in Cologne started with a StarCraft II showmatch between The Little One and MaDFroG. This time both players went for a best of three series. After four amazing games the score was tied 2-to-2 with the showmatch hinging to the fifth and final showdown game where both players raided bases. In the end, The Little One emerged victorious. To see the replay of these exciting games, check out our forum thread for the StarCraft II showmatches.

Much has happened in our Warcraft III brackets and World of Warcraft Arena Tournament. In Warcraft III, it came to a rematch of last year’s final between Grubby and LucifroN after both players dropped to the lower bracket. This time, Grubby was able to defeat LuciFron, winning 2-to-0. In the meantime, Happy marched through the upper bracket, defeating ThorZain 2-to-1 and becoming the first finalist for Warcraft III. Grubby and ThorZain had to battle it out to determine who would be Happy’s opponent in the final. In this match-up, Grubby managed to make use of all his experience, claiming a 2-to-0 victory over ThorZain. As finalists, Happy and Grubby will face each other once more in this tournament! Take a look at our Warcraft III brackets to see the latest results.

In the World of Warcraft Arena, *aAa* made their way through the upper bracket, defeating the surprise winners of the first round, Virtus Pro by 3-to-0 and going on to defeat SK Sansibar 3-to-1. After moving to the lower bracket, team x6tence fought their way through the lower bracket, much as they did last year. In the third round came the ultimate showdown between x6tence and LightZ CaMerA ActioN. Both teams definitely went to their limits, fighting it out in the longest arena matches we have seen so far. After multiple draws, LightZ CaMerA ActioN, the team of the well known warlock Inflames, was able to claim a hard-earned 3-to-2 victory over last year’s winning team x6tence. After defeating SK Sansibar in the lower bracket finals, they will move on to face the undefeated team *aAa* in the final. You can participate in the discussions about the World of Warcraft Arena matches in our dedicated forum threads.

The Pro Gamers are not the only ones who have been battling hard here in the Media Centre in Cologne. Our visitors participated in various contests to win some highly-sought after Collector’s Editions of StarCraft II, posters, beta keys for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, and many other prizes. Our free gaming area has given many the possibility of seeing StarCraft II or discovering the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta. All who are interested still have the chance to join us until 8 p.m. today and enjoy the great atmosphere here in Cologne!

07-Aug-2010 2010 European Warcraft Invitational Day One

The first day of the 2010 Warcraft Invitational started with a StarCraft II Show Match between The Little One and MadFroG. Both players, being among the best in Europe, showed us a thrilling game. After being defeated in the first round, MadFroG made a great comeback in a very intense second match. But, at the end, The Little One was able to defeat him, winning the match 2-to-1. We are looking forward to see them fight each other again tomorrow.

In Warcraft III, LuciFroN, ThorZain, Happy, and Grubby advanced in the upper bracket, while Xlord, ThomasG, Nicker, and VortiX now have to try to come back into the game through the lower bracket.

The first round in the World of Warcraft Arena was very interesting. The Russian team, Virtus Pro, took us all by surprise, scoring an impressive 3-to-1 win versus the hotly favored Team Dignitas. And, once again, x6tence, the winning team in 2009, has to face the same situation they saw last year where they lost in the first round. Will they be able to fight their way back through the lower bracket again?

In the remaining two matches, SK Sansibar scored a decisive 3-to-0 victory against Hehe xo while Team *aAa* was able to defeat the players from Stay Small, winning 3-to-1. We are excited to see how the rest of the tournament will progress.

The audience here in the Media Centre in Cologne is showing an amazing amount of support for the players, providing just the perfect background for this event. Six players from the Italian World of Warcraft guild “Serenate of Sorrow” travelled all the way from Italy to Cologne to participate in this event. Together with all our visitors, they have the possibility to watch the breath-taking matches here at the 2010 Warcraft Invitational. In addition to the matches, everyone has the chance to try out StarCraft II or discover the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta in our free gaming area.

As the day continues, more action on our show stages is guaranteed. So, be sure to join us for this free event at the Media Centre in Cologne or turn in the free Live Stream on our 2010 Warcraft Invitational website.
