The strength of an army is based on a great many variables. Are the correct orders being dispatched? Has the army's base been deployed in a strategic manner? Is morale high amongst the cannon fodder? Are the scouts providing the feedback required to bring the greatest advantage to the strategists? Even with these factors considered, one thing must always be taken care of in the most efficient way possible: resources are the key components in keeping the gears of war turning. So with that in mind we ask you in this week's poll: "Do you defend your mineral line?"
And for those lucky enough to be in the SCII Beta we'd like to ask you another question. How effective do you think the Battle.net matchmaking system is at pitting you against opponents of your skill level?
We are pleased to announce the first-ever open submission StarCraft II video contest. The time of the cinematically-gifted StarCraft player has come. Direct, star in, choreograph, machina-ize, and generally get creative with the universe you've played in for so long. As long as it's in video format (and PG-13), the sky is the limit! A few of the best moviemakers may just film their way into some fantastic prizes like a new Samsung television and an Alienware Monitor OptX 3D LCD with NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit. Want to know more? We hope you enjoyed our April Fools' Day events. If you missed them, check out this year's jokes:
Wars are won and lost on decisions made and the tactics deployed. Battle plans can change and the varied environments can be used to the advantage of both sides. One favoured and highly successful use of the terrain is performed by exploiting choke points -- filling up those bottlenecks with either organic fodder or durable constructions can not only hinder an enemies progression into your base, but at times also offer enough brute force to kill an entire army in its tracks. In this week's poll we ask you a little about your defensive strategies. Are you the type to barrier your base, or do you focus more on the offensive side of warfare?
