21-Sep-2016 “Battle.net” Update

We’re going to be transitioning away from using the Battle.net name for our gaming service and the functionality connected to it. Battle.net technology will continue to serve as the central nervous system for Blizzard games—nothing is changing in that regard. We’ll just be referring to it as Blizzard tech instead. You've already seen this recently with things like "Blizzard Streaming" and "Blizzard Voice," and more changes are on the way.

Heroes of the Horde and the Alliance have amassed a truly fearsome army of their own—as of Legion’s first full day of launch, more than 3.3 million copies had sold-through, and World of Warcraft’s launch-week player concurrency reached its highest point since 2010’s Cataclysm. With gamescom coming to a close this past Sunday, we wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us there and via the livestream to make this our biggest show yet. More than 67,000 players visited our booth in Cologne, Germany to try out our games and enjoy the entertainment, and millions more tuned in to follow the action online.
