In Diablo III, your characters will wield their various skills to devastating effect. But once you add a runestone to a skill, it’ll transform and become even more powerful. Runestones can alter nearly everything about a skill -- the way it looks, how many enemies it hits, and what happens to those unfortunate enough to be caught in its path.

During the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2010, players got a first look at the fifth and final character class for Diablo III: the lithe and deadly demon hunter! gamescom 2010 has come to a close! This year, we hosted many events -- including raids with members of the guilds “For the Horde” and “Refuge.” Visitors to our booth also participated in an epic World of Warcraft Dancing contest, Q&A quizzes, and other fun events. We also hosted a Goblin Leveling contest as part of the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm hands-on demonstration. Fans of Diablo got their chance to see the up-coming release of Diablo III at our booth while others could watch the StarCraft II showmatches that took place. All in all, gamescom 2010 was a huge success and we have the screenshots to prove it!

The final two days of gamescom 2010 in Cologne, Germany has brought us plenty of fast-paced action in the form of exciting live raid events, thrilling competitions at our main stage, and breathtaking StarCraft II Showmatches. During the last two days, we were able to see the top guilds For the Horde and Refuge performing live raids in Icecrown Citadel in front of an enthusiastic audience at the Blizzard Entertainment booth. In StarCraft II, the top European players WhiteRa and Strelok showed the audience an exciting performance on Saturday. On Sunday, it was on the shoulders of the well-known players Artosis and Huk to top Saturday’s StarCraft II feat. They kept what their reputation promised by offering a performance that kept watchers on the edges of their seats.
Several events live on-stage such as the Q&A Quizzes, StarCraft II Challenges, and Goblin Leveling Contests -- plus the opportunity to try out the new Blizzard Entertainment titles World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and Diablo III -- enthralled hundreds of fans who enjoyed their time at the Blizzard Entertainment booth here in Cologne.

Since the doors opened Thursday, gamescom 2010 has been in full swing. Many players have already taken the opportunity to try out Diablo III and the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta at our booth over in hall 6, B21 and B31. Today, we saw some very impressive performances and also were able to see some interesting approaches to the World of Warcraft in-game dances during the Dance Contest on our main stage. Our winners were given their well-deserved rewards by Jay Wilson and Tom Chilton, taking home graphics cards from Nvidia and a Spectral Tiger from Cryptozoic.
Remember to join us and participate in our contests and quizzes -- such as the StarCraft II challenges or Goblin leveling contests -- and you could win valuable prizes by Bradygames, Cryptozoic, Panini, Razer or SteelSeries! Today at the gamescom trade fair in Cologne, Germany, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled a brand-new gameplay feature for its highly-anticipated action role-playing game, Diablo® III. Even in single-player mode, the heroes of Sanctuary won't have to face the hordes of the Burning Hells alone, as a persistent caravan follows them on their perilous quest. The caravan provides access to a group of unique support characters including a blacksmith, a mystic, and a jeweler, each of which offer exclusive gameplay benefits that will aid players in their epic struggle. And these aren't just static NPCs -- each artisan has his or her own story and quest line, and they gradually grow in skill and learn new recipes over the course of the game as players take advantage of their services. The utility provided by these characters adds another layer of customization and depth to the Diablo III gameplay experience.

This Friday marks the beginning of BlizzCon 2009, and thousands of players will be making the trek to the Anaheim Convention Center to enjoy a weekend full of gaming, tournaments, panels, contests, and more. If you're interested in watching the sold-out show, don't forget that you still have a few days to order your "virtual ticket," available via Internet stream. This package comes with 18 hours of live coverage, including the closing concert with Ozzy Osbourne, as well as the exclusive BlizzCon 2009 in-game pet, Grunty the murloc marine.
StarCraft II's Jim Raynor, terran hero, outlaw, and leader of Raynor's Raiders, will be making a rare exclusive appearance at this year's BlizzCon. Standing 6,25 inches tall, dressed in his signature StarCraft II battle suit, and sporting an oversized Gauss rifle, Raynor is the debut piece in a new line of Blizzard Entertainment-inspired designer vinyl toys known as n00bz.
The Raynor figure can be found exclusively inside this year’s BlizzCon goody bag and won't be available anywhere else. When interviewed about the honor, the good captain had only this to say: "I don’t play nice with others." The first Blizzard Entertainment global creative writing contest has been judged and the winning entries chosen. After poring over nearly 17 million words, our judges have decided on one grand prize winner and seven runners-up. Take a moment to enjoy the ideas and creative stories of all the winning entries.
The grand prize winner will visit the company headquarters to meet and eat with the Blizzard Entertainment creative writing staff, and will receive a Frostmourne sword. The seven runners-up will be sent signed copies of the Diablo Archive, Warcraft Archive, StarCraft Archive, and Warcraft War of the Ancients Archive.

The Diablo 3 Bestiary now features not one, not two, but five new creatures from the realm of Sanctuary: the Fallen Ones.
The fallen ones are a unique breed of true demonic origin, one of the few that I've been able to conclusively verify through sources other than the ancient Vizjerei tomes in my possession. (How I came by said tomes will, of necessity, remain my secret.)

The StarCraft II beta-test period is coming in the months ahead! If you’d like a chance to participate, now’s the time to let us know. During this process, you’ll also have the opportunity to opt in to future betas for other Blizzard Entertainment games. Please note that even if you’ve opted in to our betas previously, you’ll need to complete this new process and upload your current system specs to have a chance to be invited.

Something is dreadfully wrong. Fear is in the air; I can feel it. I was but days out of Tristram when I saw a screaming ball of flame rip across the sky. Surely enough, soon after witnessing this harbinger of doom, I stumbled upon a badly mangled traveler. He was barely able to spit out the tale of the cursed monstrosity responsible for his broken body as his life drifted away. He called his killer "the unburied".

At the Diablo III Class Design panel, game director Jay Wilson went into more detail about the game's third playable class, the wizard. A wielder of the elements and a master manipulator of time, the wizard combats the hordes of the Burning Hells by hurling environment-shattering lightning bolts, channeling explosive arcane energies, and creating pockets of space outside the normal flow of time.
